Has anyone come up with a concept for their character yet? If you have post some of the goodness here.

A question I forgot to ask you last week was about ethnic diversity among the vampire races. Are vampires their own race or are they an offshoot of the human race? I recall in Underworld there were a couple black lycans, but I don't recall if there were vampires who were other than white. I imagine there could be, otherwise how do they pass themselves off in various different cultures? However, you might have other ideas.
My initial thoughts are about playing a vampire resembling a Native American, maybe a Sioux or Cheyenne from around the 18th century. That's why I ask the question. Is that possible?
My other idea was an actual Romanian or an Austrian originally from the Carpathian Mountains from around the late 18th century or early 19th century.
Are either one workable?

Any ethnic background would work. I figure they are as diverse a race as humans would be. I like the Native American angle.

Yep, there was the token black guy among the lycans, and one amongst the vampires. About this vampires-as-their-own-race thing: in the movie, didn't Viktor sire Selene? I mean, I'm not sure if they said that she wasn't a vampire before Viktor "saved" her from the lycans, but I would assume so. I was just wondering because it doesn't seem like a vampire of "lesser stock", i.e. created rather than born a vampire, would be the top death dealer in the coven. Tony? B

My character:
Willem, thin guy, average height, blond hair
been around since mid-late 1800's, from New York
cocky, brash, quick, etc.
carries 2 of those full-auto pistols like Selene has & a bunch of knives
All I got for now.

Vampires may infect a human but this is a rare instance. The saliva of an immortal is toxic to the human body. I would say that 90% of those bitten would die from the bite but there is a chance that they would be successful in turning their victim. I believe it was Selene's drive and lust for revenge that molded her into the fighter that she was.

Okay, I did some more research on tribes and found that in spite of James Fennimore Cooper's well-known works, some Mohicans are still around, although he actually confused two tribes, borrowing elements from the Mahicans and the Mohegans (the latter of which had an important chief named Uncas -- Hawkeye's brother in the novel 'Last of the Mohicans'). Both are New Englander woodland natives, but the Mohegan fits my idea. Apparently there were between 6,000 and 8,000 people in the 17th c. before the colonists eventually wiped most of them out. The 1910 census has little more than 20 of these people left. However, today there is somehow a 1,000 of them and they received government funding in 1994 and also have a lawsuit pending from lands that were seized from them all the way back in 1861. Most of that aside, Mohegan actually means 'wolf' and these people gave the animal both respect and fear. My vision for the character I'd like to play would be a long-haired vampire whose specialty is fighting lycans. He both respects and fears them as his enemy and is known among his kind as a "crazy lycan-hunter." I see him as taking to modern technology as far as weapons are concerned, but is also still a throwback in certain tribal ways; for example, face paint when he is on a serious mission and expects danger, meditation to commune with the spirit world, reading into signs as omens, howling in his native tongue when in combat, stuff like that. Physically, he is tall and wiry and honed like iron with smooth, brown skin and waist-long, shiny, black hair. His eyes will be light colored in some weird vampire way, though. As far as weapons go, he uses guns but he's really into his blades. Who saw 'Hellboy?' I'd like his fighting style to be kind of like Kroenen's with weapons like his (they're apparently called double-bladed baton-swords and I found this pic: www.gijoeelite.com/Images/GIST/GIST-8903.jpeg).

It won't matter if you were born or sired vampire. Your status as a Death Dealer will elevate you past the political side of things; that is unless you involve youselves in it.

I have not worked out all the details, but here is what I was thinking. I am a career soldier. I wanted to work out with you guys if I worked only for one group or if I could be a mercenary. I was thinking of tieing him into a lot of battles through the wars history.

It could be that you have worked with the others in the past and when they are sent to England they contact you to go with them. They know and trust your methods and respect your abilities.

I'm up for whenever, except for this Thurs, as I'm canceling D&D for a concert.
If you really want Melissa to play though, we'll have to switch to Thursdays, as she works til 8 on Tuesday nights.
I'll mention it in the Schedule thread also.

Here is my ideal, my character will look like Ron Perlman as Johner from Alien: Resurrection. Or he could look like Ron Perlman as Reinhart (a vampire, fittingly) in Blade II. Or he could look like Ron Perlman as Lord Vox of Vestron in The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space (copy and paste link below into your browser's address field): dperezlab.tripod.com/perlman_zoom3.jpgSeriously though, I like the concept you've got going here.
