Hope I'm not being too presumptuous copying and pasting your email here, B, but I'm eager to start logging our discussions on this here forum thingie.
Anyhow, this might be tough since I don't have Jero's sheet in front of me. I may not be able to make up my mind until I can look things over.
I like the idea regarding Lord Sauril staying in Athkatla, though. Perhaps he and Lord Hhune (sp?) have some catching up to do. I'm all for becoming the "Merchant Prince of Murann" and can play it to the hilt. I take it Sauril is cool with it? I think Jero might feel awkward about it unless he had Sauril's support.

I figured Sauril would be cool with it. Jero did save his life.
I dunno how you pictured Sauril's personality, but since he took Jero in and all, I figured him to be a nice guy.
Yeah, and he could stay in Amn to reestablish his House there also.

I figured Sauril would be cool with it. Jero did save his life. I dunno how you pictured Sauril's personality, but since he took Jero in and all, I figured him to be a nice guy. I pictured him rather standoffish when Jero was younger, and rather serious, although he always had a deep humility, his pride placed mainly in his profession as an alchemist and a merchant. Recent years, especially his ordeal in Murann, have changed him physically more than anything else, as I think he has always had a deep strength of character. Now, he's bony, squints a lot, and has a withered face with thin white hair and a scraggy white beard. I also picture him with steel-rimmed spectacles, if that's possible. I think you're right about his feelings for Jero. If he had a soft spot for Jero before, now that he's been rescued from his captors, he might practically think of Jero as the son (or grandson) he never had. What do you think?

Cool.
I was also kinda thinking that the businessman in him would make him realize that he at least owed his saviour something.
So he may now look at Jero as a partner in addition to a son.
